Bespoke picture framing in Holt, North Norfolk
Emeu now offers a bespoke framing service. Every frame is cut and joined to the size of the piece it holds, whether that is an art work, a print, a canvas or a book.
Choosing the moulding and our range
The moulding is the profile of the frame: its width, depth, shape and finish. We hold corner samples so you can lay them against the work and see how each one sits beside its colours.
Our samples run from narrow to wide and from flat to stepped and rounded profiles. Finishes include natural light and mid tone timbers, painted colours such as slate blue and green, black, dark brown and gilt, including a bamboo pattern gilt moulding.
framing details
Mounting
A mount sets a border between the work and the frame and holds the face of the work away from the glass.
Canvases
A canvas is usually framed without glass and set into a deeper moulding so the edges of the stretcher sit inside the frame.
Framing from a joinery workshop
Emeu.com Ltd is an independent building and joinery company based in Holt, North Norfolk. Framing sits alongside our architectural joinery and interiors work, with the same approach applied to a smaller piece of timber: measured to the job, cut to fit and joined to last.
How to make a framing enquiry
Send us a photo of the piece and its measurements through the enquiry form, or call 07720 312583.
We will reply to discuss moulding, mounting and glazing.
You receive a price for your frame before any work starts.
Cutting the mitres
The moulding is cut on a Danish made mitre guillotine. It shears each length at 45 degrees, so the four corners meet cleanly when the frame is closed up.
joining the corners
The corners are joined on an underpinner. With the frame clamped flat, it drives V nails up into the back of each mitre, which pulls the joint tight with nothing showing on the face.
